Lunar New Year 2026

Sam's Signature Bakkwa (Chinese Pork Jerky)

$ 24.88

Charred sticky-sweet-umami meat candy, mmm!

You've never had "juicy" jerky like this. Welcome wealth and maximum auspiciousness with our one-of-a-kind savory superstar of the season!

Also called "rou gan" or "long yoke", our bakkwa is free of the coloring, additives and preservatives usually present in mass-produced versions. We start with fresh pork marinated in Sam's secret recipe, hand-press it into sheets, then grill each slice until the perfect caramelized flavor and tender texture is achieved.

BEST BAKKWA BEHAVIOR

  • Reheating: Best consumed warm (trust me!). Slice into smaller pieces if desired, then zap for 5-10 seconds in the microwave or toast briefly in the oven. Savor the succulence! (Note: Please remove inner and outer packaging before reheating).
  • Storage: Keep refrigerated. Unopened vacuum bags can last for months in the fridge. Once opened, best enjoyed within 14 days.
  • It's Meat Art! As an artisanal handmade product, each slice is unique and will vary in shape and color. Our bakkwa may be darker than some chemical-red BBQ pork you've encountered. This is because we use zero artificial coloring.
  • Allergen Info: Contains gluten, soy, sesame and anchovy extract. Feel free to ask if you need more ingredient details!

Delish Pineapple tarts

The pineapple tarts and peanut cookies are always so delicious. The Bakkwa is not so authentic. The color is too dark almost black and taste is okay only. I am sure it can be improved.

Bakkwa: The Future (of Chinese Pork Jerky)

In observance of Lunar New Year, I ordered the pork jerky from Sam Tan's Kitchen. I had been a previous customer and enjoyed Ms. Tan's wares very much in the past, so I looked forward to her spin on this meat product - and I was not disappointed. I sliced the jerky into strips, then followed her instructions and zapped the jerky in the microwave for a few seconds before eating. The spice was a perfect sweet/savory combination, exactly what I expected, and the chew was much more tender than I thought it would be. I didn't think jerky could legitimately be described as "succulent" ... but here we are! Excellent five-star work by Sam Tan's Kitchen once again!
