Prosperity Yee Sang/Lo Hei (Chinese New Year Salad)- LA ONLY

If you're a fan of the traditional Yee Sang salad (SUCH a fun tradition btw - if you don't know, look it up), this will hit all your pleasure points. And even if you've never tried it - I've had the pickiest non-Asian guests and my own picky kids try it and they are OBSESSED. It's such a fresh tasty flavor profile, and Sam uses the absolute best/freshest ingredients. I've been ordering for going on 4 years now and her quality control is top notch. (Also, my teen daughter is bugging me to bug her for the recipe, it's that good)

Just the right amount of every ingredients. Quite close to what we get from home. Very good.

The ingredients were very fresh and grated thinly. With just two of us, we ate it up quickly. The salmon sashimi also tasted very fresh. I loved the additional of the small crackers and the sweet ginger slices gave it that sweet and tangy taste!

So glad we found Sam!! We ordered 2 orders of the CNY yee sang and it was delicious and tasted like home!! We enjoyed it very much and appreciated the care and details Sam put into this traditional dish. We kicked it off with the customary "lifting" of the vegetables for good luck.

For the first time in many years, my mother couldn't travel back to Kuala Lumpur for Chinese New Year. There is not a single Malaysian restaurant in San Diego that I know of. Sam Tan's Kitchen to the rescue! Beautiful, fresh and delicious salad--completely authentic. The look on my mother's face--priceless!
And Sam Tan was an absolute pleasure to work with--efficient, friendly, easy communication and really great food!
