Nice texture but flavor missing that oomph

Felt made from scratch with real spices, but the flavor profile wasn't for me. Was missing something earthy and that umami punch.

Bakkwa: The Future (of Chinese Pork Jerky)

In observance of Lunar New Year, I ordered the pork jerky from Sam Tan's Kitchen. I had been a previous customer and enjoyed Ms. Tan's wares very much in the past, so I looked forward to her spin on this meat product - and I was not disappointed. I sliced the jerky into strips, then followed her instructions and zapped the jerky in the microwave for a few seconds before eating. The spice was a perfect sweet/savory combination, exactly what I expected, and the chew was much more tender than I thought it would be. I didn't think jerky could legitimately be described as "succulent" ... but here we are! Excellent five-star work by Sam Tan's Kitchen once again!

Pork Jerky

Very good, very close to the ones in Malaysia or Singapore.

Decent taste

Slightly tougher than what we have in Singapore but the overall taste is good. There is a slightly more spicy taste similar to the kind in Malaysia.

Bakkwa

The texture was close enough to the ones bought in Singapore Chinatown. It was a little dry and the taste needs to be slightly sweeter. Overall, it was close to but not enough to the ones I loved.
